During WW2, Britannia Batteries in Union Street, later Alcad Limited, produced a publication promoting the Company’s efforts during the war period. I have scanned this 10 page document to produce a PDF and, finally to a ‘flip book’ which gives the appearance of a book. Royal Enfield had an important role to play during WW2 in producing, as well as bicycles and motorcycles, much specialised equipment . To meet the demand they established satellite factories both within and outside the local area. I have scanned this 44 page document to produce a PDF and, finally to a ‘flip book’ which gives the appearance of a book. The BSA built a new factory in Redditch, on the Studley Road, to build the BESA machinegun for the British military. They began in 1938 and by July 1939 produced the first one off the production line. This document was produced by the BSA to mark that event and I scanned it to images about 10 years ago for a WW2 event. I do not have an orginal so I am not sure about the page order but from the images I produced a PDF and, converted that to a ‘flip book’. It is also possible to download the pdf file from the ‘flip book’ by clicking on the appropriate icon. The 2nd June 1953 was the date of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. To commemorate this date all school children in Redditch were give a small book which explained the coronation, gave the story of our Queen and had a nice little history of Redditch written by Roy Vann, who was the Redditch Librarian at the time. It was nicely bound with a red leather look cover. I was just approaching ten at the time and I have managed to preserve my copy in good condition over the years and I created the attached ‘flipbook’ from that copy. It is also possible to download the pdf file from the ‘flip book’ by clicking on the appropriate icon.
